I'm not even black, but I am SO PUMPED about that. No longer will the world be able to view us as a white, middle-class country. Yes!
Now that we have achieved equality, it is time to retire the blunt instrument of Affirmative Action.
Not yet, just because we have a Black/Muliracial president doesn't mean we have equality. It just means we are a step in the right direction. There is still much more work to do tobe truly equal.
I kinda think that affirmative actions sucks. It makes me feel like I am part of a culture that needs help getting hired and living life when we shouldn't. People need to get over their race issues. Black people exist, white people exist, hispancics exist, asians exist, so we all need to learn to coexist, without help from the government.
I'm thrilled to have a president who is VERY smart and grounded. I've never seen this man lose his cool.

Did everyone see Jesse Jackson in the crowd? That was so moving. I am so proud of America right now.
Yes! It's about time! Now all I need to see before I die is for a woman to become president. But not until 2016, because of course it's OBAMA 2012!!!!
Not to be picky....but we have a bi-racial President... I think that it is important to honor his Mothers side as they were the ones that raised him. But, beyond that, I think it is ultimately more important to disregard his race all together...as it really has nothing to do with the man that he is....and the AWESOMENESS he will bring to our Country! =)
Hellz no! I don't want white people taking this away from us. We have a BLACK president! Obama said he doesn't feel connected to any white heritage and he grew up an AFRICAN-AMERICAN! So yes, he have a BLACK PRESIDENT!!! W00T!
Not exactly true. He was raised by his White family but became involved with the Black community later. But still as a Black person I am feeling that special sense of pride today.
No one is taking anything away from anyone - black, bi-racial, whichever: he's still the first.
Let's not make this about white people and black people, just like it shouldn't just be about democrats and republicans.
See I knew this would happen. The whole time, Barack was called the first "black" candidate. Now that he is voted in white people say "no, he is the first multi-racial president." Its like they said oh no, the black guy is in control now, we need to label him as multiracial. In his book he says that he doesn't consider himself mixed, he calls himself african-american. So there in his own words. Barack is the first BLACK president. White people you have a BLACK president!
Latoya, I'm happy that we have a black president, and I think most people here are aswell, just what people are saying is that that's not the only good thing about him.
