Hi. Vote.

I'm E. Lockhart. I hang around with Maureen. I write books for teenagers.

So many people in this country were denied the right to vote for so very long -- women and people of color -- let's remember that it is hard-won. We should use it. We should use it to celebrate the battles fought by those who came before us, and to change the world for those who come next.

Great Anne Lamott article

I loved this Anne Lamott essay in Salon about talking about Palin when we could be talking about Obama.

I just wanted to say how lovely it is to see you here. The Boyfriend List, The Boy Book, and Fly On The Wall are some of my favorite books of all time (I hope to read your other books soon), and I'm always glad to here about great people like you supporting Obama.

I feel obligated to thank you for The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks - I truly think it's the best, most approachable book dealing with feminist issues in a way that's easily digestible, and entertaining, for teenagers that I've yet read. Not to mention that it was just really funny.

I hope "I write books for teens" doesn't mean that I'm a weirdo non-teen who loves your books!

Anne Lamott is always a little bit loopy, but I love her for it. (By the way, I'm new to this whole social networking thing--I'm a stubborn curmudgeon in that regard--but I'm glad this site has provided me an opportunity to check in with authors I rarely see in person.)
