It's totally normal to go and hug random strangers, right?

I'm so tired right now I'm having a hard time putting sentences together. I canvassed yesterday from 9:30am until 7pm. Walking up and down streets, knocking on people's doors to make sure they knew where they were voting, when the polls were open and answering questions about what ID you can bring with you. Tiring work, yes. At about 3pm I was just fading and fast. I made a deal with myself that I could close my eyes and lay down for ten minutes and then I had to get up and finish this neighborh… Continue

Seven and a half hours later

I just got back from canvassing in my area. It was really awesome to finally do some work in on the streets that I walked on to get to the library when I was a kid. By the end of the day I'd knocked on 200 doors or so and woah are my dogs barkin'.

A super quick note before I pass out.

I don't want to forget some things from today. I did canvassing for the first time today. It was much like making phone calls in that most people are not home but being one someone's front porch as they tell you that they're afraid of losing their job... whole different feeling. Looking into someone's eyes and really seeing that fear there changes the whole world.

New favorite bumper sticker "OMG WTF PALIN?" Yes I took a picture of it and I will be posting it tomorrow I think.

The woman I walk… Continue

Alex and Alex

I have been crazy sick for the last two days but I went in to make phone calls at headquarters as usual. I grabbed my list, started making phone calls, and went on my merry way. I was on the fifth page or so when two guys sat down next to me and started talking about the campaign. One of them happened to mention that he was from New York. I turned around after I finished my next call to introduce myself and ask the guy why he had come all this way.

He said that he wanted to make a difference in… Continue

Buffy and This Election... I know it's a stretch

I'm a huge fan of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and I read something today while I was procrastinating. It made me think of why this election means so much to us. We have serious issues going down in this election. We have foreign policy that makes us look like children who don't want to share our toys unless you do exactly what we say. We have a financial crisis second only to the Great Depression. We have terrorism and wars tearing through the world.

Why don't we just check out and let it all go?… Continue
